Girls day
Jessica finished finals at school and needed some time away, so she and Jenny came to Vegas. We went to the Bellagio, and the Venetian to see the Christmas decorations. It's always so much fun to go to the Bellagio, they change decorations several times a year with the seasons. It looked amazing, they had so many fresh flowers. People were asking Jessi to take their picture all the time. One guy came and asked her to be in the picture with him, he thought she was a model. It was a lot of fun spending time with the girls. We went out to lunch after a few hours of walking on the strip. Our waiter was really funny, and Dylan thought he was the coolest guy ever. Every time he would walk by, Dylan would start grinning and laughing at him. We had such a good time spending time with them.

Dylan just had his four month check up. He is doing really well. He in now 10 pounds 7 ounces, and is 23 inches long. He is 6% for weight, and 11% for height. He's quite grown up. I asked the doctor what I can do about him sleeping better, she said that some babies just don't need as much sleep. We're just lucky we got one of those. lol.

Hanging out with Daddy

He had to get his shots, and was such a big kid. He cried, then stopped as soon as I picked him up. He had a little fever that evening, and was fussy. His fever kept getting higher, so I took him to the ER at 1 am. His fever was 101.8 when we got there, and went up to 102.2, even with taking Tylenol. The ER doctor woke up a pediatrician at 4 am, and he came in and looked at Dylan. He gave him some ibuprofen, even though he's still too little, and his fever started to go down. He said it was just a bad reaction to the shots. We got home at 5:30, and the next day his fever was gone. I hope that his six month shots go better.

Taking a nap with Daddy when he wasn't feeling good.

Dylan is getting so big. He likes to always
be awake, and he's so alert. He loves spending time with his daddy. He still likes bath time, and spending time scooting around on the floor. He has a great big smile, and is almost always a happy boy. He is still eating a little bit and then smiling and looking around, wanting to play. Then is starving in another twenty minutes.
Anyone have any idea's I can try, it's so
hard taking him out when he want's to eat every half hour. He has been such a blessing, even though he's a handful. I don't know how such a little guy can be so demanding. He is talking, giggling, and laughing lot's. It's pretty funny the stuff that you'll do to try to get this guy to laugh. I'm sure he's laughing at us. It can be pretty challenging trying to keep this kid entertained. He really like his swing, and will take a pretty good nap in it every once in a while. He has been loving having Christmas decorations up. He loves lights and music. Right now everything goes in his mouth, and he's getting to be really good at pulling hair. He loves having stories read to him. He's still waking up about every two hours at night. Last week he had one night of sleeping 3 1/2 hours, then every 2 hours after that. We were hoping that he would be doing that more often, but he was just tricking us. We're hoping as he's getting close to being five months old, that he'll start sleeping better.

We're ready for Christmas at our house!

Christmas party at Nellis

Dylan watching the helicopter bringing in
Santa Clause.

Dylan got to visit Santa at the base Christmas party. Ben said it was nice that Dylan didn't try to pull Santa's beard, as he accidentally almost pulled off the beard while picking up Dylan. We had a great time at the Christmas party. This has been such a fun holiday season. It's going to be a sad day when we have to take down the tree and Christmas lights at our house. Dylan loves the lights, and decorations.

Thanksgiving, 2011

We were so excited to go to Texas for Thanksgiving this year. It was nice for Dylan to get to spend some time with his big brother and sister. Sarah was a big fan and would have carried him with her the whole time. Brenden is such a good big brother, it's going to be fun watching them grow up together, even with the nine year age difference. We stayed in a hotel one night in Lubbock and had a fun night playing with the kids. We were pretty thankful they had a complimentary
breakfast after seeing how much
growing boys eat. Brenden had an cheese omelet, plate of scrambled eggs, plate of potatoes, some fruit, some waffle, two sweet rolls, and three glasses of orange juice. Sarah had a waffle in the shape of Texas, some fruit, and a sweet roll. It was a really good breakfast. We had a suite, that turned out to be really nice for extra privacy with feeding Dylan. Sarah was very interested in my feeding Dylan. She decided that Dylan liked to have a blanket over his head so he could drink a bottle in private. She also wanted to feed him the next time. I went to bed early one night and Ben fed Dylan a bottle and let Sarah help. We stayed with Ben's sister Becky. She and her family were a lot of fun to stay with. We got to spend a lot of time with Ben's family. Brenden and Sarah loved hanging out with their cousins. Sarah and her cousin were inseparable and had a great time teasing Brenden. The day before Thanksgiving I got to help with some baking with Mary, and Leah. Ben took the kids to see Puss in Boots, and Sarah said it was so funny. We had a dinner with most of Ben's brothers and sisters that night. Then the next day we spent most of the day at the community center where we had lunch. There was so much food, everything tasted so good. There was a park close by, and the kids had a great time playing after eating. We had a great time visiting with family, and playing with the kids. We went to a science museum and spent about five hours there. It was cold outside, and a great day for the kids to be inside playing. The museum was a lot of fun, it was three floors, and it was all things the kids could touch and play with. Dylan had a fun time watching everything. Then we took the kids back, and headed back home. It ended up being 32 hours in the car. That's a very long time, we were so happy to be back home in our own bed again. Vacations are fun, but it always feels good to be home again. Dylan had a hard time sleeping at other places. We had schedule for nights at home. He would go to bed at 11:00, wake up at 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, then sleep until 8:30 or 9:00. While we were gone he was waking up every hour to eat. Can't believe I ever complained about him eating every two to three hours. We had a great time in Texas. We're going back this summer to pick up the kids so they can spend the summer here. We should be ready for the car ride by then.

I'm so far behind it's a little embarrassing. I've got a sick little baby, so I think it's a good day to play catch up. It's so hard having a baby that doesn't feel good. He's been so fussy and just wants to be held and rocked, or he wants to eat every hour. Having him eat every hour at night is so hard, it feels like as soon as you go to sleep he's up again. Ben just put in shelves and cabinets in our extra closet, and I'm supposed to be going through all of the craft stuff, and getting that room cleaned up. The room is so full there is only one path to get through to the other side. I really need to work on that room, but Dylan just doesn't want me to. We have Ben's work Christmas party tonight, and we're not going to go. I think Dylan would cry the entire time for babysitters. So it's just going to be a day at home today, to get everyone feeling better.

A few weeks before Thanksgiving I had a Dr. appointment. I had a lot of problems while I was pregnant. I had really high blood pressure, and the last month and a half before I had Dylan, my kidney's and liver started to fail. I had Dylan six weeks early, and would have been in real trouble if we waited any longer. The hospital that I was transfered to was really mad that I wasn't indused two weeks eariler because my health was so bad. We had had an ultrasound a few weeks before, and his lungs weren't developed enough, so I think that I had him at the right time for him. It was amazing that he was six weeks early, and didn't have to go to the NICU. I have been on three different blood pressure medications and am finially on on that seems to be working well. My liver and kidney's are in bad shape right now. My liver is working too hard processing food, so I was put on a special diet that will make it easier for my liver. It's no salt, sugar, white flour, red meat, anything processed, and one serving of dairy a day, because I'm feeding Dylan. It's pretty easy to eat while I'm home, but it's pretty hard on a road trip. Wendy's is the best option for fast food. I can have salad's, and the baked potato with pepper on it. It was really hard at Thanksgiving to be around all this food that I couldn't have. Ben's family was really nice about making sure that there was food that I could have. I know it was a big inconvience for them. Hopefully I don't have to be this way for a very long time, but it sure is a healthy way to eat. Dylan turned into a happier baby, I'm not sure if it was age, or that he likes this new diet better. He would get really upset anytime that I ate chocolate. Ben say's that he's getting teased at work for having healthy lunches, but it's good for him. lol. I did make him cookies for his lunches, so it's not all healthy. Right now things are looking good and improving. Hope that it continues.

Dylan is four months old!

Dylan just turned four months old. I can't believe what a big kid he is now, well big as in old. He is still wearing a lot of newborn clothes. He's starting to wear some 0-3 month clothes as well. We just switched him to size 1 diapers, not because he's big enough but newborn diapers are so hard to find. They come up pretty high on his stomach, but they don't fall off when you hold him up anymore so we think he's ready. Diapers should come up to the boobies, right? His favorite toy is a mat on the floor with toys that hang from it. He loves to kick his legs and wave his arms around. Trying to get both fists in his mouth is the newest goal. He likes tummy time, and is getting really good at scooting around. He's very good at rolling over, and blowing bubbles. He
started laughing and thinks that life if pretty funny. He has a
really good smile, it lights up his whole face.

Dylan is pretty opinionated, and is very good at letting you
know what he wants. While we were coming back from Texas
we stayed in Albuquerque on the base. We got a two bedroom
house, since we have a noisy baby, and wanted a bathtub.
Dylan ended up having a really bad day. He was in the car for
five hours.
Then he got to take a bath, after 25 minutes of kicking and swimming he had to get out. He screamed in his daddy face for about an hour, before he fell asleep. At home he gets to sit in front of a little heater to warm up before putting his diaper and clothes on. He was really mad that he had to get out of the bath, and then not having a little heater made him so mad. Then we went out to dinner at an outdoor mall. They had this huge Christmas tree with lots of lights. They had snowflake lights dancing around and Christmas music playing. We watched the lights for twenty minutes and then left because it
was cold outside. Dylan got so mad that we were leaving the lights and the music, he cried all the way back to our house. That was a bad day in Dylan's mind.

As soon as we got home, we unpacked and set up all the
Christmas decorations. Dylan is a huge fan. Grandma gave us a nativity that has a light and sings a song, it's a big hit. We changed up our classic tree, that only had regular lights and gold ornaments, to colored lights that dance around to music. Dylan loves Christmas time. He loves to lay on his mat next to the tree, roll over and try to scoot his way under it. He's quite an active little guy. He has a new trick when he's eating. He has a little bit, and then needs to take a break and see if he's missing anything. He gets really distracted if his Dad is around. Then he's starving 15 minutes later. It's really hard if we're going somewhere. He likes to watch everything and be entertained. We're going to Disneyland soon, and I think that he's going to love all the lights and music. I can't believe how grown up Dylan is now.
